Explainer Video:
Strawberry Jell-O Salad
A short, recipe video to promote the Jell-O brand
Overview
The purpose of this video was to market the Jell-O product offered by Kraft Heinz. Me and my classmate developed this video for existing and new consumers of the Jell-O product who are looking for fun, easy-to-make recipes The video was designed to be advertised on the company website. Adobe Premiere Pro was used to edit and create the video.
Design Considerations
The video is short, yet easy to follow and comprehensive.
It follows the Jell-O brand style guide.
It follows accessibility standards while maintaining a nice, fun tone.
It is unique in nature; we took inspiration from stop motion animation techniques to achieve a unique look and a playful feel.
The video leverages different shots (establishing shot, medium shot, close-up) to make it more engaging and easy-to-follow.
Proposal
The first step in the journey was to provide a clear background, target audience, objectives and an overview of the visual and auditory style that allows us to define the scope and expectations from the project.
Storyboard
The last and perhaps the most important step before filming was preparing the storyboard. Decisions ranging from the type of shot and each movement in a shot to the text and the background music were taken at this step. The storyboard allowed us to organize our thoughts and ideas before the filming process.

Filming and Editing
The final steps were to film and edit the video. It was a bit of a challenge to maintain accurate camera angles. However, we were able to get great shots by managing lighting conditions and defining suitable camera presets. The main challenge in the editing process was to make adjustments for smooth transitions and an overall consistent feel of the video; however it was extremely rewarding as we saw our video come to life.

The Final Product
The final product turned out to be a short, fun, and easy-to-follow explainer video.
