F2F Workshop: Ergonomics
at Marche Al-Baqr
A live face-to-face ergonomics training with an instructor guide created
for grocery clerks at Marche Al-Baqr.
Overview
My first project in the Masters program for the Fundamentals of Instructional Design class was to design and develop a training based on the ADDIE model of designing instruction. As I noticed a huge gap in the ergonomics and safety performance of the grocery clerks at the store I was working at, I was motivated to develop a training that can potentially solve the issue.
Design and Considerations
Following are a few design considerations that I took during the process:
The program follows the organization’s style guide.
It leverages different media (e.g., text, images, videos) towards a meaningful learning experience.
The workshop is designed for the right medium and format based on learner profile, resources, and the content.
The training is well-structured and leverages the advantages of the mode of instruction (i.e., Live, F2F).
To apply suitable best practices and theories of learning.
To provide learners with opportunities to reinforce and assess learning.
To get feedback from learners and create a bond with consumers to stay connected.
Learning Needs Assessment
The first step towards the training was to perform a detailed learning needs assessment. The assessment includes background, research strategy, business need, performance scenarios, task analysis, learning objectives, performance gap, learner personas, product and project constraints, and learner evaluations.
Design Plans
The final step before development of the training was to decide the format, medium, communication style, and the overall structure of the program.
